NYFW: Dinner With Glam at Beaumarchais

ambassador of fashion

So for my 3rd fashion season in a row, I got to spend an evening with The Glam Network over cocktails, dinner, and awesome gift bags at Beaumarchais in the Meatpacking District. I sat at Table 5 which apparently was the coolest table in town because I got to meet the nicest girls ever.

wake up: NYFW

After a pretty chaotic summer of office overtime, going back to school, and just reflecting on life in general, Ambassador of Fashion is back from a deep rest.

I took this photo last week while visiting Los Angeles for the first time with my mom. I’m not gonna lie – the most fun we had was laying in bed in our hotel room watching a Law & Order: SVU marathon. Even though I grew up on a beach, so the longing for the ocean and warm weather are just naturally my veins, the entire time I was in Tinsel Town I kept thinking: I’m so happy I live in New York. Although I definitely did need the time off… (I took 9 days off of work, 3 of which were spent in L.A.) – I’m feeling refreshed and energized, and beyond excited for New York Fashion Week.

I’ll be kicking off the fashion season, once again, with Glam Media and American Express on Wednesday night. After that, it’s all a roller coaster from there. It’s funny how as soon as it’s all over, though, you just begin thinking about next season.

NYFW: Monika Chiang A/W 2012, Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse

Last night while I was at Dinner With Glam, I received on my phone an invitation to Monika Chiang’s A/W 2012 collection, which at that point was less than 12 hours away. I thought, “Dang. People weren’t exaggerating when they said Fashion Week invitations were usually sent last minute…” Of course that was my second thought after, “How exciting!” The showcase was held at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse at Lincoln Center Plaza. This showcase turned out to be my very first ever for New York Fashion Week. :)

I had a lot of appreciation for this collection, probably because more recently I’ve found myself wearing mostly dark colors + business wear. I found all components in this collection that I always try to take in to account in my own wardrobe: professional, practical, stylish + edgy, and these days… dark. Generally I’ve always been one to wear bright colors or obnoxious patterns, but I’ve tried to narrow down the blatancy, without ridding myself of it completely, by accompanying my dark colors with a loud pair of shoes, like Monika’s beige + gold heel or spiked sneaker photo’d above.

Many, many thanks (and CONGRATULATIONS!) to Monika Chiang and her team for including me in her showcase. I’m so honored to have been in attendance, and it was certainly a wonderful showcase to pop my NYFW cherry to. (I totally just said that.)
