Last night while I was at Dinner With Glam, I received on my phone an invitation to Monika Chiang’s A/W 2012 collection, which at that point was less than 12 hours away. I thought, “Dang. People weren’t exaggerating when they said Fashion Week invitations were usually sent last minute…” Of course that was my second thought after, “How exciting!” The showcase was held at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse at Lincoln Center Plaza. This showcase turned out to be my very first ever for New York Fashion Week.

I had a lot of appreciation for this collection, probably because more recently I’ve found myself wearing mostly dark colors + business wear. I found all components in this collection that I always try to take in to account in my own wardrobe: professional, practical, stylish + edgy, and these days… dark. Generally I’ve always been one to wear bright colors or obnoxious patterns, but I’ve tried to narrow down the blatancy, without ridding myself of it completely, by accompanying my dark colors with a loud pair of shoes, like Monika’s beige + gold heel or spiked sneaker photo’d above.
Many, many thanks (and CONGRATULATIONS!) to Monika Chiang and her team for including me in her showcase. I’m so honored to have been in attendance, and it was certainly a wonderful showcase to pop my NYFW cherry to. (I totally just said that.)
