This post is dedicated to one of my most recent fascinations: Designer Anna Sui. Originally from Michigan, Sui’s career in fashion began at the Parsons School for Design in New York, leading up to the opening of her first store in SoHo.
To be honest, I can’t put my finger on what draws me to Sui’s Spring/ Summer 2012 collection. My favorite description refers to the collection as “rock’n'romance” by Marie Claire UK.
Looking through these photos, perhaps maybe what draws me the most is the “I do what I want” attitude in each piece. I love Sui’s desire and ability to create edge – and mixed emotions – through Romance, Elegance, Sensuality, ad Bohemia.
For my avid readers, I know you’re thinking “where the hell have YOU been?” Apologies for the lack of postage the last – I know, I know – EIGHT days. With all of the holiday happenings, I’ve been much busier than I ever would have anticipated with attending as many events as possible (as far as my coverage of Broadway Sings for Toys from last Monday, my photos are now property of Playbill.com otherwise I’d love to share them with you), finalizing a few recent partnerships, as well as the typical holiday obligations like gift shopping and planning my getaway from New York. Right now I’m sitting in a dim living room in Buffalo in front of the fireplace with my boyfriend and his parents, this being the first moment of peace I’ve encountered in I don’t even remember how long. So I hope you’ll forgive me! But other than that, I hope everyone is as content as I am with where they are for the holidays.
