Archive Vintage – Dallas, Texas

One of my favorite things to do when I’m being a hermit at home is to go vintage shopping online. This is no simple task, I might add. I feel that through most of my attempts I usually find elaborate websites with pieces that only mimic vintage attire. It seems that most vintage shops possess a computer system that’s as old as the pieces in their stores and have no up-to-date website. My saving grace: Archive Vintage.

Archive Vintage houses an incredible collection of vintage pieces by the world’s most prestigious designers. And what’s amazing??? – YOU CAN SHOP ONLINE! Archive Vintage is based in Dallas, Texas… which would have completely broken my heart had it not been possible to do your shopping online. (Not that driving all the way to Dallas wouldn’t be worth it…. it most DEFINITELY would be.)

Mystery Spot Antiques: Phoenicia, New York

While spending this wonderful weekend in a cabin in the Catskills, I came across the most AMAZING vintage store I’ve ever encountered. Owned by film artist Laura Levine, the Mystery Spot is located on Main Street in the quiet little town of Phoenicia, New York.

Although my weekend was just about relaxing and exploring the wilderness with my boyfriend, I would definitely come all the way back just for a shopping spree here.

I’ve spent a lot of time trying to find vintage shops in Manhattan, although through my experience, any item sold in a Manhattan vintage shop is sold for just as much or even more than what is was originally worth back in its hey day…which is way more than I could afford. (By the way, if you have any tips, SEND THEM MY WAY!) The Mystery Spot definitely honors the value of the items displayed, while also making the prices affordable for someone like me, who would definitely be interested in styling up these original pieces with my own modern flair.
